All close contacts of a former NTU employee who visited three eateries on campus while infected with Covid-19 have tested negative for the coronavirus, according to an email circular from the President’s Office on Wednesday (Sep 16).
The tested individuals have also completed their required quarantine orders, wrote deputy president and provost Ling San and senior vice president for administration Tan Aik Na.
A previous circular sent to the NTU community on Sep 9 announced that the employee was last on campus on Aug 28.
The ex-staff had visited the Quad Cafe, Paik’s Bibim and the North Spine Food Court and was asymptomatic at the time. Following the announcement, several students raised concerns about the flouting of safe distancing measures on campus.
The Wednesday email reminded students and staff to consult a doctor if they develop flu-like symptoms such as a fever, running nose, cough or sore throat.
It also urged unwell students and staff to rest at home or in their hall room and avoid going to public places or facilities.
“While our campus continues to remain free from Covid-19, it is very important that we remain a responsible community by staying vigilant even while community infection is under control in Singapore,” said the circular.
“This means complying with the precautionary safe management measures, including wearing of masks at all times, practising safe distancing and using SafeEntry and QR code to check-in/out.”
